Hi, my son was given a pacman frog. We have it in a 20 gallon tank we had a turtle in. I bought echo dirt(looks like a brick but expands in water) crickets and cricket food and drops for the water. Since we live in MO and its freezing here I put 2 heat pads under the tank but the temp still does not go above 73. I also have a small black light that came with him that goes on top of the screen. I have seen him out once and he was in his water dish and the crickets were gone (3). Now hes back in the dirt and havent seen him since. I mist the tank and change his water daily the humidity gage says its tropical the temp is still at 73 and Im worried to death hes not ok. Is this normal behavior for them? I am not familiar with frogs at all and I just want to do best for him. We don't bother him and our neighbor that's a herpatologist checked him out when we got him and said he was fine and had good bones. Any advice??? Thanks in advance.

well, i'm new to frogs, too - the only thing i KNOW is that these frogs are rather happy sitting still. the documentation i read says watch out for skin abrasions or discoloration.
the fact that the crickets are missing sounds like good news to me.
also, though i THINK closer to 80 degrees is better, the article i read said anything between 68 and 80 is safe.
beyond that, i'm looking for some answers, too...
good luck!!!
